- First Latin classic printed with a translation into a modern language and the first book to bear Koberger's name as printer and an early product of his press. Leaf 2r: Incipit Tabula sup[er] libris Boetẏ de consolatione philosophie secundum ordinem alphabeti. Leaf 97v, line 47: Boetẏ philosophice consolationis liber quintus explicit. Leaf 8r: Anitẏ Manlẏ Torquati Seuerini Boetẏ Ordinarẏ Patritẏ uiri exconsulis de consolatione philosophie liber primus incipit. Leaf [6] in the Lilly Library copy is from the 1476 edition. It is the last leaf of the register and is a line-for-line copy of the 1473 leaf and in the same types. It differs only in the abbreviations used and was supposed to be a variant until it was compared with the 1476 leaf. The commentary originally ascribed to Thomas Aquinas is now attributed to Thomas Wallensis. Blank leaf 82 present in Lilly Library copy; all other blanks wanting. Lilly Library copy has large decorative multi-colored initial with marginal extension on first leaf of text; a large decorative initial in red and blue appears on leaf [102]r; a few other initials in red or blue; most initial spaces unfilled. Contemporary marginalia. Repairs in blank margin of leaf [153]. Bound in early 19th century blue English straight-grained morocco; dentelle corner ornaments; gilt back and gilt edges. With bookplate of the Duke of Sussex.
